Artifact 2 - ISP Track

In this page I will be explaining how I went about creating my ISP project and how I got my recorded elements included. The genre I chose to do was Dubstep

I first started by getting drum samples from a drum kit with the Audix microphone kit which is great for recording drums in the Audient studio in my college. I got a player to play kicks, hats, cymbals and a snare for me. I then took these sounds back into Ableton, picked my favourites and started processing them.

At first the track I had submitted was really not great in my opinion as I had rushed the project and sloppily added sounds but I for some reason submitted it.

After getting it back and having another listen I realised I really was not happy with the track and went back to the drawing board.

I stripped back most elements and started all synths and percussion fresh and i feel this greatly improved the full track to an actual listenable point.

A big problem I had was getting the vocals in the mix and sitting well as i could not find the key and just went on with it anyway, but after revisiting I got it all sitting nicely and tonely sounding good which I am really happy about

I had also not put enough recorded elements into the track which meant I had to quickly sort what I would add and how i would implement as i did not have much time to do, but I ended up getting a analog 303 synth and fender telecaster in the track which really pulls the full thing together.

I recorded the guitar by DI in my college class room and just connected my synth up through midi to my laptop to get it recorded and in.

The video attached will go into more depth about the technical side of the project and will highlight what i done and how i got certain areas done.
