This artifact is my PDP project which was a project that I had at the start of the year which included making and creating a piece of work and showing how you promote, market, network and release with that piece of work.
I decided to go with a Single release as I had made a song that I was really happy with before the project was given to us but I was still to do anything with it so I decided to use it for PDP.
When I had the track finished I knew I would be putting it on streaming platforms so I got it mastered by Conor Dalton through Soma Records and the master came out really well and ready for release. After this I began trying to promote the song as well as I could, things like posting TikTok, Instagram clips and also by sending it to other artists and DJs. These videos got some attention but not enough to profit or say the track was a success at all.
That is all for the release side of things though, I feel the track itself is really strong and ties in perfectly with the role I am going for, The mix on the track was very clean in my opinion, dense with atmosphere and emotion and also a great example of the sound design I was able to do and some of the techniques that I employed when making the track at the start of year.
I also think the process of getting the track over and mastered no problem shows my ability to properly mixdown and bounce a track with no issues detected from the professional engineers.
I feel the biggest downside of the project was the way I went around marketing it and promoting the track. I now know things like high quality ads, buzzwords and other eye catchers can work much better when promoting music but at the time I really lacked the knowledge and understanding of what would actually get me traction and clicks.
